Welcome

Hello, my name is Eli and I'm here to give you art.

I'm a young little bean and I've been doing the whole art thing for a couple years now and I feel like I'm fairly good at it. No, not the best, but not the worst. I'm still growing and developing my art style, so why don't you come along for the ride. So this is an introduction post that will show some of my art and give you some depth to what you should expect from me.

This blog will be a place where I can post future comics, tutorials, sketches, short stories and anything else I feel I want to. Currently, I suffer from same face syndrome. This is when a lot of the same art looks the same. I'm currently trying desperately to break free from that and improve my art, but positions are not my suit. I know I need to improve on backgrounds and shading quite a bit too. But I hope to improve as time goes on. As for future comics, I do want to start making them as soon as possible. But with school, it's gonna take some time, so please be patient.

I have original characters, at the moment, I have six. Only one of them has a reference sheet though I plan on introducing her soon. And if you want me to draw your original character, you can commission me! Just email me. (Eliartz03@gmail.com)

I think I've covered the basics, if you have any questions, be sure to email me or comment to ask a question. I'll be posting at least every Wednesday, but sometimes I'll post on odd days, so be sure to check regularly.

Art Supplies

As an artist, there are several different types of tools I use. Yes some of them can be expensive, but there are some cheaper alternatives. For example, I use Finecolour, TouchFive, and Prismacolor as alternatives to Copic alcohol based markers. There is a difference, but for beginning artists or artists with little money (like myself) they work fine. So here are some of the things I use in most of my drawings. If you couldn't tell, I use alcohol based markers. They can make traditional art look almost digital. Except for when the fine line decides it wants to bleed and ruin your freaking drawing. But it's just the type of fine lines I'm using. I know Copic makes fine liners and I'm sure there are other types of alcohol-based fine liners that won't make your pictures, that you spend hours on, bleed. There are other things that I use as well as markers. Gellpens, colored pencils, and washi tape are some other things that I use in drawings. Th...

Art Block

Art block. Every artist has had it at one point or another. It hasn't been proven, but I'm fairly sure even the great Michelangelo himself has had art block before. And we can all agree, it sucks. Now, there are several different types of art block. And they all suck. 1. No inspiration Imagine, you sit down at your nice, clean desk. In front of you is a clean page that is ready for you to put your creative juices. You have finally found some free time to do some art. With a smile on your face, you glance over the page. The smile fades from your face and you slam your head against the desk. Art block has hit you, and it has hit you hard. You want nothing but to draw, but there is absolutely nothing that you can think of drawing. So instead of spending your glorious free time drawing, you spend it watching YouTube. 2. No mo' motivation This happens when you have something in mind that you want to draw, but you don't have the motivation to do it. You are usually sit...

My favorite season

Can we take some time to appreciate fall for a second? In my opinion, this time of year is my favorite. The colors, the rain, the smell. I love it all! Not to mention, it's acceptable to wear a sweater 24/7. I walk to school every morning so I'm able to walk in the cold air and look around at all the pretty colors and falling leaves. Although, it can get a bit too cold some mornings. Usually, I'll just put on some gloves and enjoy the walk. One of my favorite things to do around this time of year is to sit next to a window while it's raining in some comfy clothes and either watch the rain or read a good book. Maybe that makes me a stereotypical  Tumblr girl, but I don't really care.
